Durham Women bounced back from their first league defeat of the campaign with a stunning performance at Tottenham Hotspur.
A clinical display from the Wildcats saw them hit Spurs for six – with Emily Roberts, Sarah Robson, Zoe Ness and Chloe Ryan adding to net to a Beth Hepple brace.
Both teams then ended the clash with ten players as Chloe Morgan and Becky Salicki both saw red.
Durham made two changes from the side that lost out to Leicester City last weekend, with skipper Sarah Wilson and Megan Borthwick handed starts.
And the visitors couldn’t have asked for a better opening to the game, with Roberts firing home on ten minutes after good work from Ness and Nicki Gears to tee her up.
Spurs then saw their chances of an instant leveller severely damaged when stopper Morgan saw red for handling outside the area – her rash decision leaving the referee with little choice.
Things then went from bad to worse for the hosts, as Hepple subsequently dispatched the resulting free-kick.
The midfielder then had a second moments later, slotting back substitute goalkeeper Emma Gibbon to hand Durham a three-goal advantage before the half hour mark.
And Lee Sanders’ side continued their dominance after the break, adding two more goals within five minutes of the restart.
First Robson netted her first of the season, stabbing home after Tottenham failed to clear a free-kick, before Ness found the net after clever play from Roberts to send her through.
Angela Addison pulled one back for Spurs, with Salicki then shown a yellow card for an alleged handball on the line.
Despite plenty of late pressure from the hosts, it was Durham who put the game to bed as youngster Ryan found the net from the edge of the area in what we her first senior strike.
The result sees Durham climb to third in the FA Women’s Championship ahead of next weekend’s visit of Manchester United.
