Beth Hepple’s last-gasp winner gave Durham a 3-2 win over Blackburn Rovers to send Maiden Castle fans crazy in the Barclays Women’s Championship
Durham has a strong defensive side, constantly tackling the ball. Blackburn has accurate passes, but Durham can easily intercept these passes in the 7th minute.
A free kick was awarded to Durham, and Beth Hepple took, and it made its way to Lily Crosthwaite, and she just missed.
Crosthwaite found her way into a decent position to shoot but just missed.
A clearance from Becky Salicki stopped a good chance for Blackburn to shoot.
Crosthwaite made her way up with a lovely run and crossed it in the box, but unfortunately, no one got a touch to tap it in.
Foster was unfazed by Blackburn’s shots, easily saving them.
Blackburn’s Lucy Newell took a shot, and it just got past Rylee to give the visiting team the lead in the 44th minute.
Salicki had a great opportunity after a well-placed corner from Michaela Foster, which just went over the cross the bar.
Beth Hepple took a corner and perfectly crosses it to the box, and number 17 Novak manages to slot it in nicely to level the score after half-time.
A 55th-minute header from number 12 Rachel Dugdale puts Blackburn back on top.
Foster with another corner, which managed to get to Salicki, who tapped it in nicely for a lovely equalising goal not even 10 minutes later.
There were some well-executed runs from Mollie Lambert.
A long shot from Lambert was on target, but the keeper managed to save it.
There were some very brave collections from Rylee Foster in the Durham goal.
A brilliant last-minute goal from Beth Hepple wins the game for Durham, as the supporters went wild.
The win puts Durham third in the Championship before they play Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
