2 vs 0
Bristol City WDurham ended the Barclays Women’s Championship season in style with a 2-0 victory over Bristol City at Maiden Castle.
Beth Hepple’s 11th minute goal gave Durham an early lead before Mollie Lambert doubled the advantage in the second half.
Durham began the match brighter out of the two sides with early chances.
Beth Hepple had a free kick blocked by a wall of City players after eight minutes.
Hepple got on the scoresheet three minutes later after Aimee Claypole’s pass met the oncoming midfielder to slam it home from inside the penalty area for her 99th Durham goal.
A combination of Lauren Briggs and Rylee Foster stopped Bristol City from equalising in the 29th minute.
Foster turned hero again just before half time to keep the Blues in the lead.
Durham doubled their lead after the break through Mollie Lambert’s 52nd minute strike courtesy of Lily Crosthwaite’s low cross.
Bristol City piled on waves of pressure to the Blues in the second half but were unable to put themselves on the scoresheet.
Lillie Coulson came on to make her Durham debut in stoppage time and nearly set up a third for Durham as her cross to Hepple was cushioned to Claypole who attempted a half volley just wide of the target.
