A fine defensive display secured a hard-fought point for the Wildcats away at Everton.
Emily Roberts opened the scoring after 15 minutes before Michelle Hinnigan’s late leveller stole a point for the hosts.
Lee Sanders made one change from the side that beat Watford Ladies, with Annabel Johnson starting in place of Chloe Macek.
This clash saw third host fourth as the promotion race continued, and it was the visitors who started brightest as Jordan Atkinson broke down the right with Nat Gutteridge just unable to connect with her cross.
Everton then showed their attacking prowess with a sustained spell of pressure, as Chloe Kelly curled over before Johnson blocked Krystle Johnston’s powerful effort.
And that proved to be a telling contribution, as straight from the block the Wildcats broke upfield and set Roberts through on goal with the winger lofting the ball over Brooks and in.
This buoyed the hosts who pushed forward – Alderson tipping over from Hinnigan before Christon hacked off the line when Claudia Walker had got a shot away.
Alderson was having a fine game between the sticks and she saved again from Johnston before Kelly blazed over the rebound, with Kelly herself then foiled by Alderson on the stroke of half-time.
The second half continued in a similar vein with Hepple smashing clear Kelly’s curling effort as Everton poured forward.
Durham were still creating chances though, as Roberts broke away only to place her effort just wide before Atkinson found herself one-on-one and couldn’t hit the target.
It was still Everton having most of the ball and their pressure finally tolled on 74 minutes as Johnston’s cross was headed home from close range by Hinnigan.
Stopper Alderson did well to deny both Ayane and Kelly in the final few minutes as the Wildcats defended valiantly to secure a point.
