Durham Women fought back from two goals down to claim a point at Watford.
Dee Bradley’s header had cancelled out Helen Ward’s opener before Adekite Fatuga-Dada and Flo Fyfe put the Hornets in command.
But Beth Hepple’s well-taken brace saw the visitors draw level – and they were unfortunate not to claim victory!
The Wildcats began brightly and had a chance with barely a minute on the clock as Sarah Wilson prodded wide after a scramble in the box.
Lauren Briggs then saw a header held by Georgie Ferguson before sending a looping half-volley narrowly over as Durham dominated the opening exchanges.
But somewhat against the run of play it was the Golden Girls who took the lead as Ward volleyed home Fatuga-Dada’s centre.
That buoyed the hosts with Wilson doing well to stop Fatuga-Dada as she bore down on goal before Andria Georgiou whistled an effort wide of the post.
Durham, though, would be level before the interval as Bradley nodded home Hepple’s superb delivery at the back post.
Watford came out fighting at the start of the second half though and would storm into a two-goal advantage within six minutes of the restart.
First Fatuga-Dada capitalised on a defensive mix-up to slot home from the angle before Fyfe smashed home after offside calls were ignored.
But Durham rallied and were back in the game thanks to a moment of brilliance from their captain, as Wilson’s through ball picked out Hepple who kept her cool to slot home.
And the midfielder would level the scores shortly after as she sent a free-kick into the top corner from 25 yards.
From there on out it was pretty much one-way traffic with Durham laying siege on the Watford half.
A corner was twice headed off the line by Watford before Hepple sent another free-kick narrowly over.
But there would be no late winner as the Wildcats were made to settle for a point.
